  • Castro de Ulaca, in the province of Avila, and next to the town of Solosancho is an unforgettable experience. This on top of a hill that overlooks a vast panorama. His visit is worth the effort to raise a trail, approximately thirty minutes of constant ascent. A few yellow stones show us the way. The Fort consists of three walled enclosures whose walls made of rows of dry stone, over four metres of thickness and entrance doors are in Hall to make even more difficult the assault. All of this shows us a very hierarchical society. In the third, whose walls have more than three kilometers in length, we find the altar of sacrifices, the sauna, the quarry the tower and the remains of up to 250 houses which have been excavated two. A plane takes us to the thirteen most points of travel. Only an objecion:hechamos missing children mojones yellow to take us from one place to another.

  • It is the typical monument that, if it was the Americans, would ride in a theme park and an interpretation Center. But in Spain... Well, to get to the site must upload a good slope, over half an hour (my 76-year-old mother did). The castro is well recovered, the landscape is very beautiful and informative panels provide good information though, as from habit, there has to be a mindless graffiti which has been dedicated to decorate them. The penalty is that the route to be followed within the castro is not well signposted. Until the seventh panel you arrive without problems. Starting from there... get a life. And last, I believe that the number 13, can't find it nor's joke. A shame make investments with little head. But the site, no doubt, is worth.

  • Enter the Castro through Villaviciosa at the end of the paved road must pass through a dirt road for about 1400 m until you reach a small parking lot with a house where where an employee who provides information of the zone and a fence is for cattle weighi or that gives access to the road on foot, this is expensive on slope (1500 m in height) and with enough great songs, so it is advisable to do so with proper footwear. The path is signposted by milestones yellow not to be missed. Once upstairs is a plain so it is easier to walk through the village. The wall, Sanctuary, the sauna and the quarries is better preserved, there are rebuilt the foundations of some houses, was one of the forts of Europe's largest Celtic but read the explanatory panels and take imagination to become a little need to the idea, if they seem not only to four badly placed stones. Views from the top to the Valley of Gredos if they are worth. If you are visiting in summer I recommend carrying plenty of water and sunscreen, because there is no shade.
