  • We sleep here one night while we were doing the North Road. The monk who welcomed us very friendly explained to us all. What most surprised of the monastery of santa María de Sobrado dos Monxes, is its abandonment, but nothing else far from reality, its appearance, diaphanous, without light, you moved to another time. As we had all afternoon to visit discovered behind a garden filled with very ancient statues among the trees, there about monks have a farm and orchard.

  • It is a Cistercian Monastery in which prepared rooms for the pilgrims, so you can visit a couple of Cistercian Gothic cloisters and a church of great beauty which was abandoned for a long time after the seizure. Own monks are charged with maintaining the site, so if you are lucky you may even invite you to join one of their religious services. The kitchen is very well equipped, although missing some covered. The only drawback that has is that it closes at noon both to enter and to exit, and the village itself does not have too to visit. Anyway, the people of the village and the monastery not do enough for making the stay of the Pilgrim as pleasant as possible, for what be a time out does not imply no serious discomfort. PS: Highly recommended dulce de leche artisan, is amazing

  • Great location and environment to stay the night in the monastery. Friendly staff.
  • Magical place to stay on Camino Norte.
  • Singular
  • Soon they will start works on facade. A monastery which is worth to see. They live in the monks as well as hostel for pilgrims and guesthouse. The ancient temple is empty, it is impressive to see it this way. It is worth to visit it.

  • As monument... well worth a restoration, it is a pity that a good is thus under these conditions; Yet it is worth visiting it. As hostel... is not the worst road. Yes it is true that it is rather outdated, above all that good berths deserved already have their retirement. Some bathrooms are renovated but other not so thing before placing you in the shower to take a stroll in the cloister and browse facilities.
