Seville Cathedral, Seville

4.4
One of the largest Gothic churches in the world, Seville Cathedral is the final resting place of Christopher Columbus and a World Heritage Site. The awe-inspiring cathedral is 126 m (413 ft) long and 83 m (272 ft) wide, built on the site of a former mosque. The mosque’s minaret, now serving as a converted bell tower, still stands right next to the cathedral. Climb up this emblematic tower for sweeping views of Seville, or tour the interior to see the longest nave of any cathedral in the country. Inside the main body of the cathedral, the most noticeable features are the choir lofts and the carved scenes from the life of Christ. A single craftsman, Pierre Dancart, spent his entire life completing the work on the richly detailed altarpiece, considered one of the finest in the world. • So line up to buy tickets and I had made a reservation. Admission without having to wait from a gate tower of the Giralda. Buy a ticket at the Salvador Church was recommended by your hotel. So says views for a view from the window of the Bell Tower on the Giralda tower, there is. Umbrellas for the direction or could not be confirmed.

  • The interior of this Cathedral is spectacular – you might want to give yourself about 10 minutes to just lay on a pew and look at the detailed ceiling. This UNESCO world heritage site was built on the site of the Almohad Mosque, the only remaining portions of which are the courtyard and the minaret which was converted to a bell tower. If you feel up to it, walking up the bell tower gives you some amazing views of the city!
  • The most beautiful.

Where to stay in Seville

Seville's flat, grid-like city center makes it one of Spain's most walkable cities. While no part of the center is more than a 15-minute walk away, you might enjoy staying on one of the many picturesque cobblestone streets leading off from the famous Cathedral in Plaza España. Boutique hotels and historical apartment rentals intermix with the old quarter's tapa bars and Andalusian storefronts. Nearby, Barrio Santa Cruz is a bit quieter than the main plaza but still boasts the city's sought-after old-world charm. Across the river is the Triana neighborhood, where a lack of heavy tourism has preserved the strong local scene in this mainly residential area full of traditional restaurants and corner bars.
