Seville Cathedral, Seville

#Lookout, #Monument, #Must See
One of the largest Gothic churches in the world, Seville Cathedral is the final resting place of Christopher Columbus and a World Heritage Site. The awe-inspiring cathedral is 126 m (413 ft) long and 83 m (272 ft) wide, built on the site of a former mosque. The mosque’s minaret, now serving as a converted bell tower, still stands right next to the cathedral. Climb up this emblematic tower for sweeping views of Seville, or tour the interior to see the longest nave of any cathedral in the country. Inside the main body of the cathedral, the most noticeable features are the choir lofts and the carved scenes from the life of Christ. A single craftsman, Pierre Dancart, spent his entire life completing the work on the richly detailed altarpiece, considered one of the finest in the world. • A huge monument bang in the center of the city center. A beautiful piece of architecture. A must visit for the religious minded.  more »
  • When you travel a lot as we do, this place inside is not our favourite place to be. It's huge, lots of glamour and glitter of the catholic church. But there are so many other places. But when you don'...  more »
  • Inside and out, spectacular. Its history, pictures, paintings and the altarpiece make it unique. The environment around in times of processions during Holy week, highly recommended.

  • Must visit place in Sevilla. Highly recommend buying the entrance tickes online before you come here. The waiting line is very long and the weather is too hot to stay out in the sun.
  • Awesome! you cannot miss this visit. Make sure you take the Cathedral's roof visit. It will bring you upstairs and will have a high view of the whole building.
  • Seville’s cathedral is awe-inspiring in its scale and majesty. The world’s largest Gothic cathedral, it was built between 1434 and 1517 over the remains of what had previously been the city’s main mosque. Included is the magnificent Giralda, the mighty bell tower which incorporates the mosque’s original minaret, the monumental tomb of Christopher Columbus, and the Capilla Mayor with an astonishing gold altarpiece
  • Incredible cathedral! The size and scale are overwhelming. Make sure to peek into the cool rooms around the treasury and look at the cupolas on the ceilings. Definitely worth the hike up to the top of the tower, too.
  • A huge cathedral and a wonderful day out. I would really recommend the roof tour which really gives a perspective of the scale of the building. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave a good perspective of the building's moorish past and it's more recent history. A must for any visit to Seville.
