Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol), Seville

3.9
The largest wooden structure in the world, Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol) stands 150 by 70 m (490 ft by 230 ft) over La Encarnación Square. Organized on four levels, the mushroom-like structure houses four different sites. View the Moorish and Roman remains on the lower level and the central market on the first level, for example. Panoramic terraces overlook the city on the second and third levels. This attraction is commonly known as the "Encarnación's mushrooms" due to its distinctive shape. • Nice to go up and get the views over Seville. However, I was disappointed that the structure is in fact not timber and is actually, most likely steel, metal. As an architecture student, I was...  more »
  • Would recommend for the views of Seville you get at the top. Good value for money and has information to read all the way up.  more »
  • Sit on the step and enjoy the sun, go down the right hand side and sit in the sun with a bucket of beer for 4€, underground to see the Roman remains and get the lift to walk on top of the mushrooms...  more »

  • Well worth the walk here from our hotel 15 minutes away. Panoramic views available everywhere and rarely will the weather spoil it. A glorious day and nice to soak up the skylines of such an impressive city. Really central too and plenty to do in the location. Lots of independent shops and shopping options in the immediate area to help pass a morning or afternoon.
  • A very interesting and some say controversial piece of architecture. Great views back across the city. Worth a visit...it was 3 euros to go up on top. 5 stars for the view. Strange it has small steps on the sloping roof path considering there's only 17 steps to get to top of the Cathedral. ....surely a non slip material on here would have been more appropriate.
  • Very nice emplacement where you can admire Seville's skyline. Beautiful views. I recommend to visit at evening so you can see the sunset and then the city lights.
  • Awn inspiring public art that one can and wishes to climb, walk and jump on. Blocks long, stories high. Public market in the lower level, children's play area on the second level and an undulating walkway on the top level providing dramatic views of Sevilla. Visit at night when it is lit and eerie looking. Very neat. Interactive architecture.
  • It's not really worth going up this structure unless you have absolutely exhausted things to do in Sevilla. The view from the top isn't any special. Also despite the claim to be the world's largest wooden structure, I see metal and concrete used everywhere. It's only €3 to go up but I still wouldn't recommend going up it, if you have other things planned. I don't get why others have high opinion of this attraction - may be I have different expectations as I am a keen photographer.
