  • In Seville we have this beautiful monument to "tolerance", by the famous sculptor Chillida. His idea, to create it, was to remember that you there was a time in which Jews, Muslims and Christians lived together in Seville. You will find in the Salt Spring (Paseo de Colon), next to the Puente de Triana and very close to the Torre del Oro. It is a sculpture walk, and, therefore, a free monument. It was inaugurated in 92, 500 years after the decree issued by the Catholic Kings (on 31 of March 1492), whereby is deported the Jews of the city of Seville. The sculpture is a work of great dimensions representing the host. It is located with their backs to the river and look at the city, with two long arms open to it. Unfortunately, there is almost always some graffiti at the Memorial, something that happens in many sculptures and public places here, we will, as in many other cities. But hey, it is a monument that I recommend; I like. It is in a great place to walk and photograph. Do not miss to visit it.

  • Well, you come across this on your walk down the north bank if the river. First impressions are 'is it a toilet' but quickly you see it is not. There are many monuments to the oppressed on that side b...  more »
  • Average sort of creation to look at but presumably from the title, Monumento a la Tolerancia, there is some meaning attached to the sculpture. Plaque no doubt explaining all is in Spanish.  more »

  • In the year 1992, in the context of the 1992 world exhibition commemorating the V centenary of the discovery of America, is placed in the dock the monument to tolerance, work of the sculptor Chillida

  • Ridiculous and nothing in concordance with the city.

  • Work by Chillida at the bridge of Triana. She has been there since 1992 and in its day was somewhat controversial, since the design is typical of Chillida and in Seville, they thought that it did not fit. It seems to me, however, nice and is something that gives the walk by the River a special touch.
