  • Ticked to a visit. A little groping in the dark, because you don't know what to expect. Ring the Bell and after a while the door is opened by a nun. We are trapopwaarts referred to a second door. A single smew Spaansstalig will accompany the tour of over half an hour. (€4 per person) What a material wealth is behind these walls! Finally, we were referred to the Chapel and we witnessed an impressive interior. There is also a shop where you can buy homemade products; Jam, nougat, cookies .... An outsider in Seville.

  • Live in Sevilla long ago and did not know this convent. Error. We decided to knock on the door and we attended a nun, lovely person. The interior is full of works of art to overflowing, but my I like the Roman and Muslim-based Andalusian architecture and these buildings in Seville that combine the white of the wall with a little Baroque are wonderful. I advise to visit him and that if not be stingy because these nuns now have AIDS and should leave some money for maintenance

  • This is one of the few cloistered convents partially accessible. You can visit a convent Museum and take a look at the Church by a lattice. More interesting is the opportunity to purchase very special jam prepared by nuns.

  • Hidden (if you can say that) in the oldest most congested part of Seville. Beautiful. Incredible little chapel with a peaceful garden. The fruit jam sold in the gift shop was the best I've ever had. The nuns and staff are some of the most genuine I've ever experienced. I've been to convents throughout Italy, Spain and Portugal; this is probably my favorite.
  • Most beatiful church, gardens, buildings, full of beaty and peace. Historic place. A must see for visitors
  • peaceful charming secret spot in Sevilla
  • Convent with heavy historical burden. The architecture of the Church is very interesting. Carvings of first level (Martínez Montañés, Felipe de Ribas,...). You can visit the Museum every day in the morning, except on Mondays.

  • WATCH OUT! buy sweets are excellent. In 1473 the Pope Sixto IV granted the founding Bull of a monastery to Doña Ana de Santillán y Guzmán, lady who after widowed, had entered in San Juan de la Palma. In his retirement he conceived the creation of a closure order jerónima monument. In 1475, is blessed the Church, built in some houses of the founder in the section of San Román, to which were added others nearby. To 1483 Doña Isabel Enríquez, widow of the Constable of Portugal, promoted the building of the current church of the convent. In the side walls of the header are the tombs of Doña Isabel, of his spouse the Constable and a brother, with his heraldic emblems combining weapons of the Enríquez and Portugal. Subsequent reforms and additions occurred with particular intensity in the 16th and 17TH centuries. At the end of the 20th century the convent was subjected to numerous works of restoration and adaptation, including the opening of the convent Museum, the only one installed in a Seville closure. It has two entrances from the outside, one of them open through the wire of the booths, which allows to reach the door adjust, dependencies of the fences sisters convent Museum and the chapel of the sacred heart. The other, access to a secluded compass that leads up to the Church and other service units, shows abroad a cover of brick which has an ogee arch between ramrods. Between the two above accesses is the dwelling of the chaplain.

Where to stay in Seville

Seville's flat, grid-like city center makes it one of Spain's most walkable cities. While no part of the center is more than a 15-minute walk away, you might enjoy staying on one of the many picturesque cobblestone streets leading off from the famous Cathedral in Plaza España. Boutique hotels and historical apartment rentals intermix with the old quarter's tapa bars and Andalusian storefronts. Nearby, Barrio Santa Cruz is a bit quieter than the main plaza but still boasts the city's sought-after old-world charm. Across the river is the Triana neighborhood, where a lack of heavy tourism has preserved the strong local scene in this mainly residential area full of traditional restaurants and corner bars.
