  • Beautiful church in Triana, unique just like the neighborhood in which it resides.
  • Ole Triana!
  • Very nice Church, away from the hubbub of the Centre. The person I taught us was very nice.

  • Our Lady of Victoria, then in the convent that had the minimum of San Francisco de Paula in Triana, was developed on August 2, 1519 the rite of the delivery of flags for five ships which, under the command of Fernando de Magallanes, initiated the first circumnavigation of the Earth and the taking of oath of the 234 members of the expedition. This was also the first image which fell down from September 9, 1522 Juan Sebastián Elcano and the other surviving 17 that the nao Victoria, Manning had completed the epic and returned the day before to the pier of the mules, from where it had departed three years earlier. According to Antonio Pigafetta, chronicler of the expedition wrote and survivor, "on Tuesday we got all grounded in shirt and walk barefoot, with a candle in hand, to visit the Church of our Lady de la Victoria and the Santa María la Antigua, as we had promised to do in moments of anguish".

Where to stay in Seville

Seville's flat, grid-like city center makes it one of Spain's most walkable cities. While no part of the center is more than a 15-minute walk away, you might enjoy staying on one of the many picturesque cobblestone streets leading off from the famous Cathedral in Plaza España. Boutique hotels and historical apartment rentals intermix with the old quarter's tapa bars and Andalusian storefronts. Nearby, Barrio Santa Cruz is a bit quieter than the main plaza but still boasts the city's sought-after old-world charm. Across the river is the Triana neighborhood, where a lack of heavy tourism has preserved the strong local scene in this mainly residential area full of traditional restaurants and corner bars.
