4.5
#8 of 37 in Historic Sites in Seville
Religious Site Church
Iglesia Colegial del Salvador is many things, and “subtle” or “understated” are not among them. The history of this church begins with the 9th century, and over the years it has had various influences, both in architecture and religious affiliation. You’ll see Roman, Visigothic, and Muslim elements in the present-day building, which is Baroque in style overall. There are 14 altarpieces and a sculpture by Martínez Montañés. Buy the joint ticket to see this and Seville’s cathedral without waiting in line. Put Iglesia Colegial del Salvador into our Seville trip itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Where to stay in Seville

Seville's flat, grid-like city center makes it one of Spain's most walkable cities. While no part of the center is more than a 15-minute walk away, you might enjoy staying on one of the many picturesque cobblestone streets leading off from the famous Cathedral in Plaza España. Boutique hotels and historical apartment rentals intermix with the old quarter's tapa bars and Andalusian storefronts. Nearby, Barrio Santa Cruz is a bit quieter than the main plaza but still boasts the city's sought-after old-world charm. Across the river is the Triana neighborhood, where a lack of heavy tourism has preserved the strong local scene in this mainly residential area full of traditional restaurants and corner bars.

  • What a surprise stunner. Small, comfortable, and it's just amazing with such peaceful energy. We spent much more time here than the big cathedral that hosts too many tourists stuffy air.  more »

  • Nice free church with beautiful displays. There was a folkloric show at arrival and were singing a sort of Western movie song. Was funny.
  • One of the best baroque churches I've visit in Europe. It'd quite awe inspiring to walk into the sanctuary. Reminds me of the Brompton Oratory in London, another great baroque church.

  • Amazing Spanish Baroque architecture. It's beyond impressive, how ornate and grand the side chapels are.
  • Nice church allthough a little slow to get in.buy the combination ticket with the cathedral to jump the queue.
