  • The ANTIQVARIVM of Seville, inaugurated in may, 2011, is the largest archaeological space of the city of Seville. Its 4,500 m2 of extension, located at five and a half meters under the ground, the most ancient Roman vestiges correspond to a factory for salted fish, from the 1st century ad The visible remains belong to the vats where the fish was preserved in brine. Other outdoor structure was a manufacturing and oil lamps decoration workshop. Here we found hundreds of fragments of lamps and mask theatre, showcasing some of the found objects. The period between the centuries I and III d.C. saw workshops were abandoned and replaced by stately residences. We can see several examples of domus, like the Board, the home of the nymph, House of Bacchus, the ocean, or the columns. The House of the nymph has preserved in an intact way, soil with a good number of mosaics of great interest such as the of the nymph Amymone, the of the impluvium, or Medusa. The West alley, which gave access to the former dwellings and the Hospitium of the dolphins, shows its pavement, altered continuously over time: from stone to brick and then to bare soil, at the end of the V century AD. It has been preserved a part of the sewer lines. From there we headed for the Hospitium of the dolphins, which has 80% of its surface intact. This building, identified with a hospice or an association meetings and meals, abandoned in the 3rd century AD, has a small courtyard and one dining area much greater than that of the majority of the houses. Adjacent to the Hospice House of Bacchus is located, with a mosaic representing the triumph of Bacchus, decorated with Panthers and bowls at the corners. The last two homes are the ocean House, which features a patio with a swimming pool in its interior and a mosaic portraying Ocean as a man bearded with clips of lobster on her head and surrounded by fish; and the House of columns, founded in the centuries IV - V d.C. House Board, Bacchus and the nymph. During the period of the Empire, they built stately houses with a much wider patio, sign of social status, and in this case decorated with columns and capitals of marble. This patio as well as the triclinium were decorated with mosaics, not the rest of the House that was paved with bricks. The Antiquarium also has other structures, from the 6th to the 13th ad

  • Informative touch screens of the visit were 80% off, and 20% of which worked had information that did not match what was ahead. It is very difficult to follow in these conditions the historical content of the ruins. I was like if I visit a dump. And the worst thing is that they charge you 2 euros to see that crap.

  • Wonderfully preserved and reconstructed ruins without any crowds. On top of that the tickets were only 2.10 euros.
  • Just amazing! It was a surprise! Everything was great! Truly a must if you like Roman history and archeology! Or just if you want to see the old Sevilla!
  • Roman Ruins Well Displayed
  • In the underground section of Metropol Parasol you can find fine museums of antic Sevilla. Everything is very modern with combination of roman mosaics and some ruins from Antic.
  • Superbly done exhibition of Roman remains.
