Seville

4.2
City of Towers
A city of rich Moorish heritage, Seville is the cultural and financial center of southern Spain, and the site of numerous festivals throughout the year. Modern truly meets ancient here, and it’s not unusual to find the trendiest bars and swankiest nightclubs in the most medieval of settings. Narrow winding streets and hidden squares are lined with contemporary shops, award-winning restaurants, and innovative art galleries. Stunning architecture blends materials and elements from styles as varied as Gothic, Islamic, and Baroque. Flamenco and bullfighting traditions are still a big deal, but it’s the people, fun-loving and friendly, that may be the city’s biggest attraction. Our Spain trip maker tool allows you to plan your trip to Seville and a wealth of other destinations big and small.

Where to stay in Seville

Seville's flat, grid-like city center makes it one of Spain's most walkable cities. While no part of the center is more than a 15-minute walk away, you might enjoy staying on one of the many picturesque cobblestone streets leading off from the famous Cathedral in Plaza España. Boutique hotels and historical apartment rentals intermix with the old quarter's tapa bars and Andalusian storefronts. Nearby, Barrio Santa Cruz is a bit quieter than the main plaza but still boasts the city's sought-after old-world charm. Across the river is the Triana neighborhood, where a lack of heavy tourism has preserved the strong local scene in this mainly residential area full of traditional restaurants and corner bars.
