Plaza Mayor, Segovia

Segovia's main square, Plaza Mayor, serves up a collection of fine buildings, cafes, and arcades. The cathedral and town hall border the plaza and the city's oldest tavern, La Taberna Rubi, established in 1861, sits just off the square's northwest corner. The plaza provides an ideal setting for munching on tapas and watching the people go by. For Plaza Mayor and beyond, use our Segovia itinerary maker tool to get the most from your Segovia vacation.

  • It is a nice place with the Cathedral as the cornerstone. I wonder if it is the place they have used as a model for the Plaza Mayor in the Spanish Village of Barcelona-the memories in the least about it. We stayed at a hotel on the square. I think that it is the city's highest point.

  • A very nice place to take a beer or soft drink, even in winter since there are heaters in the terrace

  • A square more than village, a few meters from the square is the Church where crowned Isabel la Católica.
