Iglesia de la Vera Cruz, Segovia

(4.5/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Built by the Knights Templar to house a piece of the True Cross, or the cross that Jesus was crucified on, Iglesia de la Vera Cruz was constructed to be a shrine. However, the fragment of the cross didn't stay in the structure long: it's currently located in a village church nearby. The shrine now stands as a historical curiosity, distinguished by 12 walls whose geometric shape is broken only by a tower on the south side. Visit the lookout point near the Alcazar, a Moorish palace in Seville, to get the best perspective on the structure. Inside the shrine is a two-story gallery where the Knights Templar may have kept vigil over the piece of wood. Climb the tower for another view, this time of the Alcazar. • Being is Segovia recommended, visit this small church. Entering it is like change of time and feel the mystery that is associated with the Templar order. There is a spot where you close your eyes and you feel like a loss of balance but at the same time a feeling of peace and tranquillity, you feel a sense of fill you with energy positive. It fascinated me.

  • One of the monuments that have most impressed me of Segovia. In the outskirts, arrived through the park that there is to the banks of the river Eresma. It is very small, but very curious. And you breathe tranquillity.

  • It hits to find this church that is not surrounded by any other building. It is worth visiting it, although you have to pay entrance to see inside. Great views from the bottom of the majestic Alcázar.

  • Templars in all your stones, I feel not to visit it by the time you arrive. But I'll be back. Its stones speak and not be because. In addition the views of the Palace from here are also tremendous. But this Church of Vera Cruz exudes history, history, written history and which remains to write.
