Iglesia de la Vera Cruz, Segovia
(4.5/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Built by the Knights Templar to house a piece of the True Cross, or the cross that Jesus was crucified on, Iglesia de la Vera Cruz was constructed to be a shrine. However, the fragment of the cross didn't stay in the structure long: it's currently located in a village church nearby. The shrine now stands as a historical curiosity, distinguished by 12 walls whose geometric shape is broken only by a tower on the south side. Visit the lookout point near the Alcazar, a Moorish palace in Seville, to get the best perspective on the structure. Inside the shrine is a two-story gallery where the Knights Templar may have kept vigil over the piece of wood. Climb the tower for another view, this time of the Alcazar. • Few specimens in Spain there are Templar Church, which attract attention by its singular structure like this. From the viewpoint of the alcazar of Segovia is already is striking and you must have something special to nothing but see it from the top of the mirador seems as that you invite to go to her. I do not understand how some people have rated it as normal and deficient because they amaze me those valuations. I invite you to read a bit of history and what that Church meant in the past. It is a must-see

  • Small and simple, but charming. You have a lovely view, besides the road faced with old houses and typical of Spain.

  • Surprising not his Church architecture. Small market and many stairs to get there from the Alcazar, but worth a look.

  • Templars in all your stones, I feel not to visit it by the time you arrive. But I'll be back. Its stones speak and not be because. In addition the views of the Palace from here are also tremendous. But this Church of Vera Cruz exudes history, history, written history and which remains to write.
