Alcazar de Segovia, Segovia

4.7
A fortress that was part of the inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle, Alcazar de Segovia is one of Spain's most popular historical sites, once home to the Spanish royal family. The first thing you'll notice about the castle is its characteristic shape, designed to resemble the bow of a ship. Although this design may have been intended to showcase Spain's military might, it also served an aesthetic purpose. In 1862, the original interior was damaged in a fire, but many of the rooms are restored. Don't miss the Hall of Kings, where you'll find a mural depicting Spanish royalty through Juana la Loca. • It is said that Walt Disney was inspired by the Alcazar to make your logo. Beautiful. If you're going to Segovia, you have to see it. Magic, transports you to another era

  • Place very special in the city of Segovia. Beautiful. I loved it. I missed missing leaflets for use during the visit. They had them in the shop at the end, but not at the entrance. I'll be back

  • Glorious castle with many suits of armor and antiquities, the 152 step tower offers impressive views of the town of Segovia to include the Cathedral and the surrounding lowlands. Impressive vistas shortly after the spring blooms and rains abound. The artillery college is an impressive feat of technical knowledge compiled over decades of study and practical application. Before you leave ensure you visit the basement to see the original foundations excavations. Toilets available inside with price of admission. Well worth the 5-10€ price of admission. Also stop at the cafe in the entry courtyard for a coffee or a glass of wine/beer and small tapas for a fair price. Truely a breathtaking work of art.
  • A beautiful experience in the local history. Most people don't visit until a hour+ after opening, so we had entire rooms to ourselves. A visit up the Torre de Juan II is worth the price.
  • An amazing place! An absolute must see if you are in Segovia. It is best seen from below on the path the circles the city along the river.
  • Ticket is a 5,5 euros but the inside is completely worth it. Half of the Alcázar is related to the ancient kings and queens from Spain and the other half is related to the military academy that they had there during the last two centuries. If you like old weapons and artilllery pieces is a place to visit!
  • It's unfortunate I don't know the history of this place. The takeaway's from my visit of this castle is that, it has an amazing 360 view of the surrounding area. Other than that, the interior is alright, nothing too awe inspiring. unless of course if you interested in delving into the history of the place. Then you'll most likely love the various suits of armor and miscellaneous medieval era artifacts spread throughout the inside.
