Alcazar de Segovia, Segovia

4.6
A fortress that was part of the inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle, Alcazar de Segovia is one of Spain's most popular historical sites, once home to the Spanish royal family. The first thing you'll notice about the castle is its characteristic shape, designed to resemble the bow of a ship. Although this design may have been intended to showcase Spain's military might, it also served an aesthetic purpose. In 1862, the original interior was damaged in a fire, but many of the rooms are restored. Don't miss the Hall of Kings, where you'll find a mural depicting Spanish royalty through Juana la Loca. • It is said that Walt Disney was inspired by the Alcazar to make your logo. Beautiful. If you're going to Segovia, you have to see it. Magic, transports you to another era

  • Place very special in the city of Segovia. Beautiful. I loved it. I missed missing leaflets for use during the visit. They had them in the shop at the end, but not at the entrance. I'll be back

  • What a beautiful castle. No wonder it was the inspiration for Walt Disney's castle. The audio guide brought out the history of the place. I recommend you also climb to the top of the tower for a great view of Segovia and its surrounds.
  • This castle is amazing! Walking through it really gives you the feel of what the castle was like. The display items add to your knowledge and show you things you may not have seen, especially how large and awesome the travelling chests were.
  • It's a wonderful looking building, very imposing. The entrance fee was very reasonable. We hired an electronic guide and we spent at least a couple of hours on the tour. Very informative. The views were spectacular. Well worth a visit. Will return in the future.
  • This place was super cool. Between the Cathedral and the Sleeping Beauty-esque castle, followed up by some wonderfully preserved Roman Aqueducts, this place is definitely worth a stopover. Though note- they close kind of early, so don't wait afternoon to visit. You'll run out of time.
  • Interesting palace. Fairly small but with a lot on the inside. The tower has great views of the rest of town.
