Museo de la Inquisicion, Santillana del Mar

(3.2/5 based on 440 reviews on the web)
Not for the faint of heart, Museo de la Inquisicion provides artifacts and information describing the methods of torture and capital punishment used in the Spanish Inquisition. Study more than 70 objects used to torture Jews, Muslims, Protestants, and those whom the tribunals accused of anti-Catholic offenses. Read (and be horrified by) the information displayed next to the equipment. This museum may not be suitable for children. • A macabre option within the visit to Santillana del Mar, but is interesting, especially if you like the theme. They are three plants and each item has a complete explanation of how it was used. I do not recommend travelling with children because certain things can be a little hard for them. But we (adults only) of course we liked.

  • The English translation was tedious to read and only made sense half the time. Factually incorrect descriptions especailly the claims of some torture devices are still in use today. Haphazardly put together. Fun but didn't learn much.
  • Very interesting topic, but it could do with a guide of some kind instead of artifacts with explanations attached- some kind of narrative would be great. Still very good, affordable, and with good hours.
  • It has all the tools and machines that made inquisition a nightmare. Although the Iron Lady was under restauration wen we visit it...
  • Nice place to visit if you are around and only if you have strong stomach
