Monte do Gozo, Santiago de Compostela
(3.2/5 based on 340 reviews on the web)
Monte do Gozo, or Hill of Joy, is the hill where pilgrims on the Way of St. James catch the first glimpse of their destination, the Cathedral of Santiago. Statues of pilgrims pointing the way stand at the top of the hill, inviting you to take a photo with them. There's an albergue, or hostel, for pilgrims wishing to rest before making the final leg of their journey to the cathedral. There's a small church here, as well as a few coffee shops where you can grab refreshments to enjoy with your view. • Last step in the Camino. Good views from here. There is a fountain if you need water for the last 2km.
  • Good place for sleep, and see the lights of Santiago before the last 5km. Clean, nice, big place.
  • A fantastic homage and photo opportunity for pilgrims as they approach Santiago...
  • Nice spot to stop and gather party members for your descent into Santiago
  • A beautiful and comfortable place blessed by JPII.
