Puerto Chico, Santander

4.4
#6 of 18 in Parks in Santander
Once a lively fishing port in the mid 19th century, Puerto Chico is now somewhat calmer, but has not lost the charm that once drew painters and writers from afar. With views of mountain and sea, this tranquil promenade is the perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon. Sample tapas and fresh seafood along the way, or rest your feet and take in the views on one of the many benches that line the path. Continue east toward the Peninsula de la Magdalena to explore the early 20th-century Palacio de la Magdalena and its gardens, or the nearby beaches of golden sand. You may want to rent a bike to reach the peninsula or go farther north to the beach of Sardinero, which is regarded as one of the most elegant beach resorts in Spain. • Walk to the edge of the sea with a fishing box in front slows down time of the visitor, looking to the place with distant curiosity. Modern atmosphere which comes from old. Bonita Bay, especially at dawn and at dusk, when it is only water, sky and boats.

  • This Marina is in the city of Santander because there is another also important in the Industrial Estate of rivers, near the airport Parayas in Camargo to few kms. But this located in the same city allows to see abundant yachts and other boats.

  • It is a place of typical fishing environment, with wonderful views, very pleasant to stroll and relax, with numerous vessels, and many bars and restaurants around. Furthermore, it is very well located, close the center of the city. To lose a time without looking at the clock.

Where to stay in Santander

For views over the water and a wide selection of restaurants, consider staying near the Puerto Chico, or "little port," area. Lodging on the historical Camino de Santiago en Santander street puts you in the path of many of the city's walking tours. The streets that jut off Alameda de Oviedo are full of markets, cafes, and shops that put you in the middle of activity.
