  • A place little known by visitors to Santander to be a church in the basement of the Cathedral, but it has its history and some discoveries that are worth visiting.

  • A very interesting place. This is practically the first floor of the Cathedral. the first level is the Church, and the second is the Cathedral.

  • You are entering one of the reasons for the city. The ancient Abbey of the Holy bodies was built to house the remains of holy martyrs (patron of the city). Eventually resulted in this church on which is built the Church above, i.e., the Cathedral. Be benevolent with all the building, thinks that the fire of the 41 was especially wroth with this area. In this church you can find the reliquaries containing the heads of holy martyrs (seems that, after the derision that made the army of Napoleon lost these remains that were found more afternoon and carbon-14 testing places them at the same time as San Emeterio and San Celedonio), also there are remains of Roman baths very valuable since they represent one of the oldest remains of urban settlements in the current Santander. Admission is free, and if you want you can activate backlighting to enjoy all the heritage of this small church for €0,50. After the fire of the 41 and by the works of rehabilitation was discovered a door of forgiveness that has been preserved intact to the present day. It is a style "Gothic" that probably makes it unique in all the Northern cornice. If you stand in front of the main entrance is on your left. Observala carefully, right from the start there is a female figure with a hat that has me totally intrigued.
