  • Pretty Museum with various subject areas, especially shark feeding at noon is very cool, friendly staff. The most info is there only in Spanish, what the experience for people who are not proficient, perhaps restricts. This is my only criticism.

  • Great place to learn about marine life, to have a good time so if you're alone or in family, easy parking and is situated in a place of wonderful views.

  • We were with the family and children a Sunday afternoon which is free. The Museum is small but very nice. Spectacular whales and sperm whales from the entrance. Also the giant squid. The Aquarium is small, but interesting with lots of sharks. We ate in the restaurant of the Museum. Good but expensive and with little food. At least the kids menu. All the children were hungry.

  • Fine mix of aquarium concentrating on local species and maritime exhibition. Well kept, in good state. Information in Spanish, French and English. But no audio guide. You can spend between 90 minutes to three hours. They also have a restaurant, but I recommend outside just opposite the street a small local place, which was used by the locals.
  • Nice museum with aquarium of local sea like. Exhibits in both Spanish and English. Covers the history of Maritime actually in the region from Roman times to today. Definitely worth doing on a rainy day. Also has a restaurant on the to floor and a nice park for kids next door.
  • Small but interesting aquarium in the basement and the museum helps you understand that maritime history of the area. Restaurant must be reserved in advance and only serves a set menu. Tiny bar area for snacks with no seating - this needs improving.
  • We got there in time for the last hour of the day. The good: we got to see it and it was free. The not so good: we felt rushed.
  • Lots to see, including a rather good aquarium. Some description are in English, which we like!!

Where to stay in Santander

For views over the water and a wide selection of restaurants, consider staying near the Puerto Chico, or "little port," area. Lodging on the historical Camino de Santiago en Santander street puts you in the path of many of the city's walking tours. The streets that jut off Alameda de Oviedo are full of markets, cafes, and shops that put you in the middle of activity.
