  • Our visits began in 1969 just the 2 of us. 3 generations began in 1980 when we bought a 500 year old home in nearby Medinaceli. Today is Christmas 2013 & in 2 hours we will be in the Mass at Santa Mar...  more »
  • Gothic Joua located halfway between Madrid and Zaragoza. The entrance costs three euros and allows you to visit the monastery, cloister and Church and also you can see a 15 minute documentary on the Cistercian and the Foundation of the monastery. In may hours are from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 16.00 to 18.00, except Sundays. The monastery is a stunning and essential Gothic gem that transports you to hundreds of years ago. Also after you visit the shop and buy jams, wine, honey, cheeses, books or religious products. No doubt a visit essential and impressive.

  • It is without a doubt the monument of art Cistercian, most important of all Castile and Leon, there will be others that are similar, but with purity and uniformity of style, is unique. Without any embellishment as the order of San Bernardo, so nothing to distract the person in his personal meditation. The visit is free through a brochure that is delivered at the entrance, unless you want more documentation, sufficient to understand the monument and visit the main rooms, Church cloister, the cilla, fireplace and of course dining hall with staircase embedded in the stone that is a real gem...

  • If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is one of your corners of must-see. Good manual art. You can be on time to your heart's content. I'm on my third visit, and each time I like more.

  • A highly recommended visit. The only thing I liked is that, at the box office, a monk clearly foreign I said (when asked where he could buy a seal) quote: "this is a town of shit, for post should go to Almazán". If you don't like it that people return to yours, kid.

  • A true gem this Cistercian Monastery. Prior to the visit audiovisual I think it deserves to see it in context of the monastery. Good shop and brothers (monks) very nice. Definitely worth the stop.
