Known for its uniform sandstone grid of historical buildings, the compact city center is often considered Salamanca's main attraction. Staying in the historical center allows you to explore the many iconic landmarks, quaint plazas, and majestic architecture, as well as experience the lively tapa and wine culture. Tucked away in the cobblestone streets of the center are a number of historical hotels that represent the city's rich cultural heritage, or you can opt to stay at one of the many family-owned pensions that dot the area for a more affordable accommodation option.
