Convento Las Claras, Salamanca

4.6
Despite its modest exterior, Convento Las Claras draws art lovers with its medieval wall frescoes. Initially founded in the 13th century by a Franciscan order known as the "Poor Clares," the convent retains few of its original Gothic elements due to an extensive renovation project completed in the 16th century. Highlights include the remains of an old wooden ceiling, as well as an on-site museum of village life, filled with everyday household items and tools collected by a local priest. Don't miss the lower choir's well-preserved wall paintings from the 14th century, unexpectedly discovered in 1976 beneath several layers of whitewash. • The convent of Santa Clara near the Gran Via has several impressive frescoes redescubiertos not so long ago that in their day were freed and encalados. The Church is noteworthy. Despite not appear in guides and itineraries is highly recommended.

  • We went because recommended it us at the tourist office and since then, a success! €3 which is the buy-in, includes Guide (which is mandatory). Enchanting Guide, explain you everything you want to know and more. Note that you like what it does. The convent outside it says nothing but the story that has inside is worth a visit. You have a prize for the restoration of a historical building

  • This convent occupies a full block, on the outside doesn't stand out much. Entry general and only 3.50€, not have any type of discount as for unemployed, something very negative that should change.
