Lagunas de Ruidera, Ruidera

#1 of 61 in Parks in Castile-La Mancha
Take a walk or bike ride around Lagunas de Ruidera, and then hop in the cool water for a refreshing dip. As you float in the tranquil lakes, gaze up at majestic red bluffs dotted with small evergreens. Explore white water rapids, thundering waterfalls ending in placid aquamarine pools, and underwater caves of emerald water shaded by the rocks. Hike up to the lookout point for views of the oasis and mesas in the distance. Bring along a picnic to enjoy lakeside--locals enjoy the manchego cheese and jamón plentiful in La Mancha. Extend your visit by staying at a shady campsite alongside the rapids, or in one of several antique La Mancha windmills that have been converted to hotels. • Very nice, but somewhat dry as I have understood, as there were no waterfalls, visit in summer. Multiple access, and beach bars.

  • Guided family we decided to visit lagunas de Ruidera. Could not imagine that these gaps could be here, as we remarked this year had little water, there were no waterfalls and lagoons were dry. There were many people bathing in the makeshift beaches, in the area there are many merenderos-restaurantes, by contrast much car and little parking. To conserve and protect natural landscape! I recommend visiting.

  • We went to visit some friends with home in Lagunas de Ruidera. We did not know the area. It is very nice and was very careful. It was very hot as it is logical in August. There are places for bathing and water sports. Never to engine. The water is very clean. Months ago that it doesn't rain and neither has much snow this winter and so the water level is low. To be the Festival of the Virgin of August peoples were animadisimos with its fairs. Perhaps too much. There is a parking problem. I think that we will see it with less heat and people in autumn or spring.
