Cuevona de Cuevas, Ribadesella

#1 of 24 in Nature in Asturias
At nearly 300 m (984 ft) from end to end, Cuevona de Cuevas serves as a connection between a series of small towns along the coast of Asturias and the rest of Spain. The cave’s massive limestone features include a host of stalactites and stalagmites. The space is home to a large array of different mosses, ferns, and fungi. As you wander along the length of the cave's inner chamber, keep a sharp eye out for the large colony of bats that calls the cave home. The cave provides an important passageway and transportation link for the village that is its namesake, and the road through the cave is still open to car traffic. Some roadside parking spots are available near the cave’s entrance. • It is spectacular. You do not expect a cave of such calibre in the middle of the village. The second time I went I always found closed, not open. (see opening hours and days)

  • The day was horrible non-stop rain so when we saw the sign of the caves seemed a good idea to save the day. The guide was dry (but still only had bad day) have to climb many stairs as about 6 floors to get, when we agreed to the cave it seemed incredible to us but the big surprise was yet to come. When you go through all of the Grotto in the dark and arrive in the end only you can tell wonderful! Will find out it if you are going!

  • Unrepeatable. A unique place. Is the only access to caves of the water and the road is a little narrow, but is illuminated and cars circulating with caution; If it crosses walk (recommendable) just have common sense. There area for parking at both ends of the cave.

  • Beautiful place to visit. The entrance has a small parking lot. Leave the car there, 250 metres from the cave that circulate the cars. It is not very dangerous since you can see easily that comes a car and the people circulating knows more than leftover that there may be people there walking. At the end of the cave, visit the village which is very nice, with its train station.

  • It is a cave that you can go with the car on the inside. Of echo is the access of the houses that exist. It is reached through the village of ribadasella. You have to get to the entrance of the cave of tito bustillo is near the Center. Once there, should continue for 7 km along the same road and follow the directions. It is very simple and it is worth going. You can park at the entrance to the cave and walk along the road. But if the car crosses it looks great because it is illuminated.
