Cuevona de Cuevas, Ribadesella

4.6
#1 of 12 in Nature in Asturias
At nearly 300 m (984 ft) from end to end, Cuevona de Cuevas serves as a connection between a series of small towns along the coast of Asturias and the rest of Spain. The cave’s massive limestone features include a host of stalactites and stalagmites. The space is home to a large array of different mosses, ferns, and fungi. As you wander along the length of the cave's inner chamber, keep a sharp eye out for the large colony of bats that calls the cave home. The cave provides an important passageway and transportation link for the village that is its namesake, and the road through the cave is still open to car traffic. Some roadside parking spots are available near the cave’s entrance. For Cuevona de Cuevas and beyond, use our Ribadesella vacation builder to get the most from your Ribadesella vacation.

The entrance is incredible, and in addition we carry out the route of the mills and the moro, circulating a route of 10 km. finish taking a cane with a home-made croquettes of Octopus, and was a great excursion. Prince, my dog, became happy to running and getting every few minutes in the streams. Advisable and easy.

Park a little way away in the parking provided and walk through- watch out as cars drive through. Combine this with an ice cream in ribadesella and you have quite a nice outing.  more »
