  • Spectacular views. Island with lighthouse now privatized and closed to the public for the service of a few. Worth the ride to walk from Ribadeo.

The lighting of the beacon were available for the June 30 of that year, by a royal order of 29 November 1860. The light was fixed and red, reaching 9 miles; together with the Lantern had cost 6,087 pesetas. It was a burning lamp for olive oil and an optical device of sixth order and 375 mm of focal length, the Sautter. The lenses used in these lighthouses of sixth order were 30 centimeters in diameter, with a Dioptric central part and a fourth lower and another senior, rings catadiopticos. Replaced lamp in 1883 for another Maris Wick, with the same appearance as the previous one, until a set of screens that were, on November 22, 1917 was installed. This system is not replaced until the year 1947. It is then when the flame fuel, change what happens for acetylene gas with olive oil, and a flashing light of naked Sun valve with flame and four batteries installed. A new Lighthouse located a few metres from the previous one, with more scope was built in 1981. This is a cylindrical tower of concrete of 12.70 meters high and 3 meters in diameter, painted with black and white stripes. It was equipped with a cylindrical lantern, located at 13.5 metres above the ground and 28 meters above the sea, helical mounts and a low voltage reserve. This is how the range came at 21 miles. On October 1, 1983 came into operation permanently. On February 15, 1984 enters service project of siren with range of 3 miles and code "R". At the same time replaced the bridge which allowed access to the lighthouse, originally of wood and iron, of reinforced concrete, the current. In 1993 the lighthouse ceased to belong to demarcation of coasts, to be owned by the Autoridad Portuaria de Ferrol-San Ciprián. With this change, a new battery system was installed to feed the emergency lighting and the generators were removed. The lighthouse was also completely monitored to be able to be supervised from the Ferrol Control Center. The two lights are rehabilitated and the bridge is repaired in the year 2002. In addition to illuminate the road to the island, the old Lighthouse is repaired on the occasion of the recording of scenes from a movie, inside: "Os mortos van Dam a ' written and directed by Angel de La Cruz.
