  • The mountains of our saw Madrid have been very appreciated by poets and writers of all type, and now also by the tourism of masses, not only climbers, mountaineers and passers-by, but by masses of people that come with them first snow, to ski (them less), to all type of sports, and to trinear or simply to plastiquear with bags of garbage. Figure among the most popular sites the Fuenfría, 7 peaks, Navacerrada Valley, across the long rope and how not? the Queen in height which is Peñalara. This time we visited Peñalara doing a direct ascent on the Southeast side until the same GEODESIC vertex by classical South channel with the help of 2 ice axes and crampons. He had never done so and I liked a lot, but not recommend that no one ventures so inexperienced runners or snowy without having previously made the corresponding course.

  • Walking and hiking around Peñalara always is a good choice, I remember the small school tours and the Institute. That well know for a snack with those views

  • It's a beautiful place for an easy hike. Once you reach the summit of Peñalara keep going as there is an interesting pass with large boulders that makes it fun for newbies. It's a protected area so don't strand away from the path and please don't litter. There are several fountains which come from the river going down the mountain, you can use them for drinking but still try to bring plenty of water. Additionally it's better to rent a car as the bus service is highly unreliable, we were stranded for 5 hours and it's not the first time.
  • Beautiful park near Madrid. With a large fauna diversity.
  • A beautiful place to go hiking! Beware, in the winter months the place is covered in snow!
  • Just half an hour away from Madrid, you can be above 2k :)
