Playa El Bollullo, Puerto de la Cruz

4.4
#3 of 16 in Outdoors in Puerto de la Cruz
The dark, soft sand of Playa El Bollullo is a product of volcanic activity millions of years ago. You'll see evidence of this in the tall, jagged cliffs and rocks along the borders of the beach. The only facilities are a small cafe serving tapas and bocadillos, or sandwiches, so this strip of sand stays relatively quiet even during peak tourist season. A 30-minute walk from Puerto de la Cruz will get you the water's edge. Be careful of strong currents and waves when swimming. • Beautiful beach with unbeatable views. Access has a bit of difilcultad, but it is worth. One of the beaches most beautiful in Tenerife. I highly recommend it.

  • The beach is very nice, typical for the island of black sand. Access is not easy, because some parts are only single track. With us, not much was going on but, we had no oncoming traffic. Parking costs then 2,50Euro. Unfortunately, there are strong currents in the water, we had the red flag. The lifeguards take very seriously and to be careful because it can get dangerous quickly.

  • It is worth going to the beach, this, ducks and relief are magnificent. Access is by a single car lane but is well and you have to pay for parking.

  • Absolutely amazing beach. Beautiful black sand. The whole scenery is very impressive. Get there early to ensure a parking spot. The drive down is quite scary, because of VERY narrow road (barely wide enough for our car and it's two way road ). We had a 7 people minivan so we parked on the street, on top and walked down. It's a nice 20 minute walk down through banana plantations. My parents were with us and and they did it no problem. The sand is super hot (at least to us) and we wore sandals so we don't burn our feet, but the locals are use to and they bury themselves in the sand :-o . We spent there few hours and loved every minute of it. Beautiful.
  • Excellent beach. A bit of a trek to get to but worth it. If it was easier to reach it would be too busy :) the waves are huge today, ideal for body boarding.
  • The sand is very fine but gets very hot during the day, so be prepared. The entry into the water is smooth unlike the Playa del Jardin. The beach is very clean and the bar is cheap. It's not easily accessible, but if you manage to get there, it's well worth it. Parking is €2/day. We enjoyed our stay immensely! :)
  • The floor is lava!! Super tasty mojitos at the bar to beat the heat!
  • Beautifull beach perfect for a honeymoon or engagement session. the sunset is stuning
