  • The steak is really good, probably the best I have had on the island. I am only reviewing the steak because that's the only thing I ever ate there. Good steak, good service and wonderful view make this restaurant a great place to be when you want to make your dine special. I do not share the opinions of other reviews on the price because even the most expensive piece of meat (T-bone steak, 22.50€) is totally worth the price because the meat is of high quality and of huge quantity. But don't worry the "normal" sized steaks (13.50€ I think) are big enough for a person to get full, taste pretty amazing and are served with amazing extras like the avocado sauce or onions. If you love steak, you'll love El Monasterio. I have only eaten in the middle restaurant so far and I don't know what food the other ones are serving. I was never as sure about giving five stars, simply my favourite steak restaurant on the island.
  • good place to eat fish, meet locals and have fun for small hiking and exploring zoo and old monastery building.
  • The "Monasterio" is a beautiful place. Rustic and luxurious at the same time. The food is above average, I particularly like the oven sausage sold by the meter, though there is much more sophisticated meals to be had. The breakfast is very good too, offering great variety. The whole place is worth a visit and if it's just to wander around and have a look at the animals, most of which are free range. You'll encounter chickens running around the tables all the time. I go there often and I've never regretted it.
  • Buen sitio para comer carne y muy acogedor
  • Beautiful old monastery converted into several themed restaurants. The terrace "El Mirador" has a fantastic view to the Orotava valley and the ocean, and a great selection of food and desserts. One of my favourites is the chicken liver salad, followed by the banana flambe. Beware, portions are large! They also have a fisherman's restaurant with some great seafood dishes (try salmon on the volcanic stone, cooked at the table), a cave where you can dine amid old wine barrels, a little fondue chalet, and so many other spaces it's really a labyrinth. Behind the restaurants there is a lovely garden and a little farm with chickens, geese, rabbits, a couple of ponies and lots of peacocks. I love it that you can walk around as much as you like, hang around in the garden or poke your nose into all the little rooms, even climb on the roof where the monastery bells are, and nobody gives you any trouble. It's a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
