Botanical Gardens, Puerto de la Cruz

(4.3/5 based on 2,600+ reviews on the web)
A center of preservation and research for Macaronesian plant life, the 210 hectares (7 acres) of Botanical Gardens are divided into sectors that showcase specific categories of vegetation. The Macaronesian Ornamental Garden gives you a scented overview of the island's indigenous plants. Another must-see is the Bosque de Laurísílva, where tree species that once covered the island are preserved and cultivated. Visit the La Fuente de Los Sabios, or Wisemen’s Fountain, to pay homage to the botanists who painstakingly worked to study and preserve this plant life. • The garden is perfect for a little trip for intermediate. Cosy can by 2-hour stroll. For photos, there were enough exotic flowers.

  • We have been to the Botanical Gardens several times and always enjoy walking round looking at the plants and listening to the birds. Great value for 3 euros entry!  more »
  • There was not much to see in the gardens. The most interesting thing was a tree from Australia that used ariel roots to grow into additional supporting trunks to provide wider support to the tree. The...  more »

  • It is really a unique garden with several nice nooks to rest a while. Good place to spend several hours and make great photos.
  • Wonderful selection of plants. Cooler shade and a nice lunch spot at the pond at the far end. A little oasis or quiet... Unless there happens to be a busload of tourists coming in at the same time. A nice way to spend an hour or 2. The fig tree with its air roots is impressive and looks like something out of the Lord of the Rings.
  • The Water Garden there is a must; huge range of tree & plant species from the Ficus Macrophylla to the Mimosa Polycarpa (touch-me-not / sensitive plant). Massive extension to the gardens underway.
  • Interesting place to visit if you are in the area. Garden with some of the oldest and rarest tree's and plant's collected from arround the wolrd.
  • Really cheap entry, fantastic variety of plantlife. Shade makes a nice respite from the heat
