Bridge Tourist Spot
Often referred to as Vizcaya Bridge, this is the world's oldest transport bridge, built in 1893. Constructed to connect two towns on opposite banks without disrupting the traffic on the Ibaizabal River, it has successfully performed this service since its opening, with only one four-year interruption, during the Spanish Civil War. The bridge is the only Basque monument on UNESCO's World Heritage Site list, and the only industrial heritage site in Spain. • This is a great place to take in the panorama of the two cities and along with the history of the bridge itself, you might have to wait a while to get up to the top, but its definitely worth it :)
  • This place is filled is a great historical site, giving you great information about how, when and why the bridge was constructed. Furthermore, the view from the bridge is spectacular with the sea on one side, Portugalete on the other side and Getxo on another side.
  • Beautiful place. It is perfectly connected to Las arenas.
  • World heritage site. Don't miss it if you visit.
  • A MUST visit if you come to Bilbao. Very few bridges in the world like this. You can cross it walking or by car in the suspension transporter for small amount of money. You can also cross it from the top part walking, GREAT views from the top.
