Parque Natural Fragas do Eume, Pontedeume
Categories: National Parks, Nature & Parks
One of the best-preserved riverside Atlantic forests in Europe, Parque Natural Fragas do Eume has just 500 residents in its 9,000 hectares (2,200 acres). Cool temperatures and precipitation mean that it qualifies as a temperate rainforest. The best way to explore is on foot; that way, you can spot some of the park’s 200 species of ferns. You might see shades of green you’ve never dreamed of. Keep an eye out for otters, too. Do the hike to the monastery of Saint John of Caaveiro, if you can.
