Bodegas Protos, Penafiel
(4/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Offering both red and white wines, Bodegas Protos features winery tours beside a castle that contains a wine museum. Wine & Spirits magazine selected this attraction as wine cellar of the year in 2013. They make wine on a massive scale, and you can see the whole operation. Architect Richard Rogers designed the buildings, which include a new cellar connected with the old via underground tunnels. After the tasting, you can keep your wine glass as a souvenir. • Interesting design architecture, the history of winemaking in the region because it is one of the oldest wineries. Interesting to see vintage bottles and labels. Wine tasting is not necessary.

  • The truth is that the visit is a little cold, will be that by it tomorrow went to the winery of Penafalcon and Casimiro us attended so familiarly that the visit to Protos me disappointed. The facilities are incredible, but when arrived to the new factory lost that charm that have the wineries. I saw it all so mechanized... still worth. They give you a glass of wine.

  • They offer a guided tour, with a very informed of the entire guide, complemented by a couple of very illustrative videos of the whole process of the wine in the cellar (a real video, with all the different steps that perform machines them and workers and that you can not see on a visit live). Explaining inter alia how time passes each wine in barrel and in bottle before leaving the winery. Costs 20€ and hard 1 h and half, finishing with a tasting of a verdejo and a Protos Crianza from 2012. Tasting teaching visual, olfactory, etc.

  • Good wines, beautiful winery and friendly staff.
  • A last guided by €10, with tasting and gift included. In addition to its new winery architecture. Highly recommended if you are visiting Valladolid or nearby.

  • Good wine tasting (according to the consumption for a fee), modern stylish ambience of the technology, wine sales of otherwise not easily available specialties.
