  • Built on the promontory which dominates the city, in a place already before the Roman of which occupation was born Pompaleo, the current Cathedral was preceded by several religious buildings that work, followed by excavation, revealed, including the churches of the 6th and 10th centuries, as well as a Romanesque crypt located under the left apse. The Gothic style building, between the 14th and the 16th century, was flanked by a neoclassical façade in the 18th century, the Madrid architect Buenaventura Rodriguez Tizon, happier in the realization of fountains in the Spanish capital. With the sacristy, rococo style, it is the only element "unmatching" a set that, internally at least, retains a beautiful harmony. Inside, the decorative richness are countless: vaults worked, decorated, crows polychromed; profusion of altarpieces: glut of reliefs and sculptures, including the remarkable tomb of Carlos III el Noble (Charles III the Noble) and his wife Leonor de Trastamara (Eleanor of Castile), admirable work of the sculptor Janin Lomme of Tournai (1413-1419), to also the funeral monument of the Bishop Sancho Sánchez of Oteiza (after 1420); monumental gates; paintings, including the huge St Kitts by Pedro de Rada; stained glass to characters; woodwork in the choir (stalls); grids; organ; Confessionals. Note that the visit to the Cathedral is free, but admission is charged for the Museum (housed in the former refectory of the canons), the former monastic outbuildings (including the Chapter House, dormitory and kitchens), the cloister, the Barbazana Chapel and the sacristy. The city is a traditional milestone for pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela and the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real, after the Iglesia de San Saturnino, is the second passage. Classified as good of Cultural interest of Navarre since June 3, 1931.

  • Sober and welcoming. Full of pilgrims. It also has one of Spain's largest campaigns and are called as my daughters; Gabriela and Maria

  • Probably the best Gothic cloister in Europe, both for its beauty and its conservation status. It is the most complete cathedral complex conserved in Spain. Inside is a wonderful and unexpected, that contrasts with the main façade in pure neoclassical style, which may be beautiful but somewhat austere. His "María" campaign is the largest campaign in use of all Spain.

  • A little gem in the heart of Pamplona totally recommended. The Museum had before was a simple exhibition of pieces (some very nice, indeed) but nothing to highlight. However Occidens tells you the history of Western civilization in a very interesting way and everything is taken care of down to the last detail.
