Where to stay in Palma de Mallorca

To experience the heart of Palma, opt to stay in the the inner ring of La Avinguadas street, where lies the historical city center. The mostly traffic-free district is filled with beautiful island architecture housing boutique hotels, historical restaurants, and lovely plazas, and is only a short walk from the city beach and port. The Santa Catalina neighborhood is another popular option for accommodation as it is well known for its restaurants, daily market, and close proximity to the city's main sites. Just east of the city center is Portixol, a beachside neighborhood that still retains its charm of an old fishing village. For a small town beach atmosphere, stay along Platja de Palma, the beach stretching east of the city center.

  • A vast and impressive aquarium with multiple zones and loads of stuff to do. Along with the expected aquarium fare of sharks, rays, eels and fish, there is also a jungle zone with a waterfall and a great kids play area with a large pirate ship, bouncy castles, water fountains and a real life Captain Jack Sparrow. Well worth a visit. Also of note are that it's air conditioned inside, so good for either rainy or excessively hot days. There is now also a reasonably priced underground car park to accompany the small aquarium car park, so we did not find parking to be an issue.
  • Was really excited to go here with the family and although fairly expensive, it was worth the trip. There's good food inside and a decent shop for all those little gifts for loved ones at home or things for the kids to do back at the apartment. The aquarium itself takes a few hours to get round and the scope and size of the tanks are amazing. Well worth the visit!!!
  • Absolutely loved it here, beautiful variety of fish to see, loved the tropical rain forest the waterfall was magnificent. Glass bottom boat over the top of one of Europe's deepest shark tanks is a must do. As a family we had so much fun.
  • Great place for family visits, wheelchair accessible, great atmosphere. I especially loved the pillows in front of large exhibitions where you can sit right up to the glass and enjoy the sea creatures in peace.
  • Has two charges: one for 'residents' and another for tourists. Adequate selection of animals but missing some information boards, the indoor children's play area opens weekends and bank holidays only and the food bar/restaurant is mega expensive. On a bright note, free parking in a small nearby car park if you're lucky enough.
