Where to stay in Palma de Mallorca

To experience the heart of Palma, opt to stay in the the inner ring of La Avinguadas street, where lies the historical city center. The mostly traffic-free district is filled with beautiful island architecture housing boutique hotels, historical restaurants, and lovely plazas, and is only a short walk from the city beach and port. The Santa Catalina neighborhood is another popular option for accommodation as it is well known for its restaurants, daily market, and close proximity to the city's main sites. Just east of the city center is Portixol, a beachside neighborhood that still retains its charm of an old fishing village. For a small town beach atmosphere, stay along Platja de Palma, the beach stretching east of the city center.

  • This looks like the best fish market you can imagine. Heaps of fresh fish and seafood, nicely presented. Do not go upstairs to the supermarket, which seems to sell the fish from yesterday.
  • The best place to go and see the different type of foods that serves around the island. When you are there you can see the different stands of the local people and buy vegetables and fruits and all kind of fresh fish. The perfect place to spend a Saturday morning with friends or family.
  • All you want from an indoor city market. Full of great food stalls including informal counters to sit and enjoy the local produce with a beer or wine.
  • Great market, stocked with fantastic produce and fish. Don't forget to eat at one of the many restaurants serving the freshest fish, sushi and oysters
  • A must for all foodies. This place is on the Rick Stein bucket list. Enjoy a fino sherry and some tapas at the fantastic bars or eat freshly made sushi in the fish market. Feeling adventurous...? Buy whatever produce you like and bring it upstairs where they will cook it for you at a very reasonable price per head
