#2 of 28 in Museums in Majorca
Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca is a foundation built to house the work of Joan Miró, located on the island where he spent the last years of his life. Donated by the artist himself before his death, the structure houses an array of paintings and sculptures from his four workshops. Paintings hang from the walls inside the modern building, while sculptures decorate the landscaped garden in the building's courtyard. The foundation also offers a glimpse of the artist's former studios donated to the city of Palma by Pilar Miró, wife of the painter, for public viewing. Miro is one of my favorite painters. This was a nice treat. We drove from Deia, which was a decent way to go. Admission is very reasonable. The gift shop has some fun options. The collection is not la...  more »

The Fondacion Pilar et Joan Miro in Palma is an absolute pleasure. If you love Miro already then this is a no brainer. Smaller than its twin in Barcelona and more intimate. The collection of works is ...  more »

When we left this museum it was with a feeling that there is so much more to Miro than the museum shows you. The halls displaying works are of course beautiful and interesting - but only a small part ...  more »

  • Nice and quiet providing a good insight to Miro's life. Prefer the Barcelona Joan Miro museum though. €7.50 per person is reasonable.
  • Might be nice, but the main collection access is closed.. not clear on the museum website. The rest does not worth the 4€
  • Loved it. The studios are a lovely part of it. It's great that so many visions have come together to create this.
  • Wonderful art. They also do other interesting cultural activities, so keep an eye on them!
  • A lovely insight into Miro's life and work, in a beautiful architectural setting.

Where to stay in Palma de Mallorca

To experience the heart of Palma, opt to stay in the the inner ring of La Avinguadas street, where lies the historical city center. The mostly traffic-free district is filled with beautiful island architecture housing boutique hotels, historical restaurants, and lovely plazas, and is only a short walk from the city beach and port. The Santa Catalina neighborhood is another popular option for accommodation as it is well known for its restaurants, daily market, and close proximity to the city's main sites. Just east of the city center is Portixol, a beachside neighborhood that still retains its charm of an old fishing village. For a small town beach atmosphere, stay along Platja de Palma, the beach stretching east of the city center.
