Catedral de Mallorca
Standing proudly in the middle of the city, Catedral de Mallorca is a Gothic building with sandstone walls and flying buttresses that seemingly rise right out of the sea. Dominating over its surroundings, the building is 121 m (397 ft) long and 55 m (180 ft) wide and was constructed on a massive scale. Designed in the Catalan Gothic style, with numerous Northern European elements, the cathedral was begun in 1229 on the site of a pre-existing mosque, but finished only in 1601. Famed architect Antoni Gaudí participated in a renovation project at the beginning of the 20th century. Managing to complete only a few of his grand ideas, Gaudí quarreled with the contractors, then suddenly abandoned the project. Nevertheless, this vast cathedral remains a major architectural landmark well worth visiting. Amazing architecture ! Such a beautiful cathedral to visit . A lot to see inside and very busy due to popularity. There was a choir on when I was there which added to the experience.

Great place to see but get there before the hoards descend from the cruise ships. It gets busy and because they’re on a time schedule, they are all impatient and have no time to wait and view things..... more

This is the major sight of downtown Palma and is great place to visit. It is the only cathedral where you can see its reflection in the sea (apparently). There are two ticket types available - €8 for the "museum" (not special) and the main part of the cathedral and €20 for a ticket that includes going up to the point where the flying buttresses meet the church wall. We started with the cheaper option but went back and paid the difference to enable us to go up to the overlook - you have 137 steps to tackle first but then you can walk the full length of the church on both sides and get great views across the city. It is worth doing. It opens at 10:00 and it is worth getting there early if you want to see the nave while it is still quiet.

There really aren’t sufficient words to describe the true absolute majesty of ‘La Seu’, the Gothic Roman Catholic Cathedral located in Palma, Majorca. Worthy to note, if you possibly can then visit ‘out of holiday Season’. We were there in February Two merits, it’s quiet and the ambient temperature of circa 15C-20C (with sunshine ☀️ and blue sky) enables comfortable walking around the wonderful city.

Most amazing visit to the Cathedral in Palma with a great history. €8 entrance. The interior took our breath away. I am not a religious person but I found myself sitting in the pews reflecting on life and the energy within its walls. Amazing.

Don't be put off by the large queues. The place looks beautiful and the stained glass windows are so pretty! It gets very hot inside, and you need to have your shoulders and knees covered. there is a mass every morning.
