Castillo Museo San Carlos, Palma de Mallorca
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Frozen in time centuries ago, Castillo Museo San Carlos originally protected Palma de Mallorca against enemy attacks from the sea. The museum housed inside the sandstone castle preserves artifacts from the island's rich military past, including parade uniforms, weapons, and helmets. In the 20th century, the castle served as a military hospital and prison. Today, a walk around the well-maintained fortification transports visitors to a time when pirates regularly attacked and ransacked the island. The castle offers sweeping views of the city and the surrounding area, so don't forget to bring your camera.
