4.6/5 based on 40 reviews on the web
Frozen in time centuries ago, Castillo Museo San Carlos originally protected Palma de Mallorca against enemy attacks from the sea. The museum housed inside the sandstone castle preserves artifacts from the island's rich military past, including parade uniforms, weapons, and helmets. In the 20th century, the castle served as a military hospital and prison. Today, a walk around the well-maintained fortification transports visitors to a time when pirates regularly attacked and ransacked the island. The castle offers sweeping views of the city and the surrounding area, so don't forget to bring your camera. • Unfortunately I only had a few hours to visit and to do this museum justice, I'd recommend half a day for an enthusiast. Firstly if you're driving it's easy to get to and there is ample free parking, ...  read more »
  • Former defensive Castle in the port of Palma. It contains small but very interesting Museum of arms and military history, in which you will find from the famous Balearic Slingers until the war of independence. It has magnificent views over the port and on the terrace of the Cafe you can rest a while in the shade of the pine trees watching the sea. Free parking.

  • To go or by bus or car and go with the surrounding water or panoramic view of the Harbour and Palm-I recommend as a rest. It is worth to enjoy a bottle of wine or beer in the café with sea views. The same exhibition of small but quite interesting fort pretty well preserved and it's all even free of charge.
