Colegiata de Roncesvalles, Orreaga-Roncesvalles

(4.5/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Constructed during the early thirteenth century, Colegiata de Roncesvalles is arguably the finest example of Navarra-style Gothic architecture in Spain. The collegiate church has been a popular starting point for pilgrims traveling to the city of Santiago de Compostela, as it is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. Explore the church’s Gothic and Baroque interior as you wander through the nave and crypt. Admire the large and vibrant stained-glass windows in the Chapel of St. Augustine, which also contains a garden in the courtyard. Be sure to bring your camera in order to capture the hilly countryside surrounding the college and church grounds. • It has nothing to do go see the collegiate church to go with the visit guided that it is. The passion of the Guide to explain the history of Navarre and especially of Roncesvalles you spread. Excellent.

  • I put this score, not because it not deserve more, but by an attitude of the guide a little inappropriate. The collegiate not is of the best that e seen but the truth that impresses, it little that could see, the cloister small but nice and the tomb of sancho also this well. Especially if you are going to stay well with schedules so that it does not pass what I happened to mi. After climbing the day before to inform me, the boy's information, helpful facilitated me the information and he told me that the next day exceptionally had visit in the afternoon. To the day following climbed by the afternoon to the time that us said, and the guide of enough bad ways while you explained what I had said the day before, is put of very bad forms to reply me. Even so pay by can see the cloister and the tomb of sancho. But good in all places you can find this, I play to my.

  • Etapa imprescindible del Camino de Santiago
  • Roncesvalles is long and tiring after a first stage arrives from France, from Saint Jean Pied de Port, stepping over the Pyrenees. Downloaded the backpack after doing the formalities for the reception at the hostel just outside to visit the town, a little amazed at the size of the place. The entrance into the Colegiata becomes a viaticum for the path ahead, hence almost 800 kilometers to get to Santiago de Compostela. The atmosphere of peace and serenity that pervades the Church helps to forget fatigue just born and allows you to own tempo on what you can expect in the days ahead. A necessary moment of meditation before flying out with the right motivation.

  • Abuztuaren 9an bertan izan ginen eta taldeko bisita gidatua kontratatu genuen. Akats larria. Assumpta deitzen zen gidak asko dakienik ez dugu ukatuko bainan bere azalpenak eta bisitarioenganako tratua ez zitzaizkigun batere profesionalak iruditu. Azalpenak gazteleraz, noski.
  • First stop. Ideal for pilgrims. History, architecture, moods, thoughts, dating. A place to which get fatigued sharing regenerated. Abbiamone respect.

  • Roncesvalles, an ideal place to rest the mind and the spirit, and that tells us his past, full of future. The story of Roland, brand goals and human types who left an indelible imprint on Western Christianity, and today is proposed as a model to follow, in our days.
