Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Constructed during the early thirteenth century, Colegiata de Roncesvalles is arguably the finest example of Navarra-style Gothic architecture in Spain. The collegiate church has been a popular starting point for pilgrims traveling to the city of Santiago de Compostela, as it is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. Explore the church’s Gothic and Baroque interior as you wander through the nave and crypt. Admire the large and vibrant stained-glass windows in the Chapel of St. Augustine, which also contains a garden in the courtyard. Be sure to bring your camera in order to capture the hilly countryside surrounding the college and church grounds. • We arrived at 17:55, more than one hour before the close of the collegiate church, long enough to visit the Collegiate Church (cloister, grave, cover and Church). However we had to wait until 20 minutes before closing since the two people responsible for the lockers were in two guided tours. Rate reduced from 2€ (cloister, grave and cover) (with visit guided are 5€). Even expensive for what there is to see. Over the Church is closed. THE VISIT TO THE IRATI FOREST IS ESSENTIAL... THIS DOES NOT

  • I made a detour to show my children are studying in school because the Roncesvalles. Very large and impressive complex full of both tourists and pilgrims who are starting the Camino de Santiago. There are also very hiking trails through the Woods. If you are hungry there are at least three or four restaurants, though since we are in Spain, it becomes difficult to understand the exact times.

  • Emblematic place of Roncesvalles whose visit is a must if you've arrived here, recalls old times and invites to rest and reflection. The environment is very beautiful and the connotations spiritual of the place are impressive. A visit very enjoyable and recommendable.

The price is € 4.3, and you can see the cloister of the collegiate church for free (which is payment yet to visit), and then take you to the Museum, where there are interesting parts without a guide you not apreciarías, you go after the small church and the silo. The girl explained all phenomenal and towards very enjoyable. In total you are about an hour. The collegiate church you can enter free and open until the 21.00. The cloister closed at 18.
