Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno, Obregon

4.1
#1 of 61 in Outdoors in Cantabria
The animal inhabitants of Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno roam the grounds mostly free, with the exception of some protected enclosures. This is a research center. While you enjoy walks through the 750 hectares (1,900 acres) and meals at the themed restaurants scattered throughout the grounds, scientists are observing the animals and plants. Visit the educational center to learn about the park's beginning as a reclaimed former iron mine, see and take part in experiments, and practice living with fewer resources, like our Paleolithic ancestors. We were in the middle of August, a Sunday, and 0 glues, very friendly people and the site wonderful. (Birds of prey and sea lions) workshops fun and caregivers very salt I. Is a little expensive, €30 two adults, but things have their price, and all that you have to pay it. Maybe the cable car, the views and the roll go freely wherever you want. Animals are unpredictable and some are not there so you can see them, but generally productive visit. The worst the restoration, cutrecillos and expensive. To repeat, with and without children.

Since the price is not cheap, it is very important to well organize the visit in advance to be able to take advantage of it. You can buy the entrance before Internet and, indeed, there are some pages that may apply any discounts. If these discounts are not available the purchase means nothing for 3 reasons: 1) there is no preference in the input queue; all enter the same sentry boxes. "Processing" in box office time is very similar if you arrive with the reserve print or paying by credit card. (2) the early Internet booking is for a particular day; If then that day it rains or evil, do not have the flexibility to anticipate or delay the visit and 3) the price is the same look at weather forecasts to "try to" hit with a proper day: a rainy day, in addition to uncomfortable wet make the visit, it will mean them to encourage them to stay secure, and few want to wander round the precincts. On the other hand, an excessively hot day (bring caps and water) will we finish the day "traps" and, again, will make them encourage them prefer to stay calm in the shade without moving. If the day comes very windy in addition will not operate the cable cars. We were one day during the week in August. We arrived at 10:30 at the North entrance (Obregon) and find a queue of about 200 cars in 5 rows of input. We had about 20-25 minutes of waiting until we could get. I don't want to even imagine what had to pass which came at 12 o'clock (moral: better soon and, if you've seen it all, or are already tired, out soon that arrive late and waste much time waiting) inside, despite the crowds from being August, as the Park is enormous people spreads and is not noticed both visits to the different venues. It is interesting to plan well throughout the day: to) shows that have fixed hours (the imperative of prey, and the Lions marine). The rule is: those who arrive with something in advance have a good seat with good vision; those arriving later need to manage them. (b) travel by cable car. It has no additional cost and you can use it as often as you want. Highly recommended since it gives you a different animal and much more global Park view. Leave your car in one of the "stations" and make the full trip (5 sections) to return to the starting point (although other variants are possible) is normal. Indicate that, at the end of each section, it is obligatory to lower cabin to make tail whipping in the following way. While there were many people waits were made bearable because the Cadence of the cable car is pretty decent. When it comes to food there are many places for picnics. They also have self-service outlets and cafes with omelette, sausage pork sandwiches... (€ 5) Reasonable prices. Go from a site to another with the car can be a little chaotic. Map delivered at the entrance gives you an orientation but is not always easy to identify at what intersection you are at every moment: there are a few main routes and several secondary roads that tackled a few sites to others. Note: many of the roads are one-way, and make mistakes in a cross can mean having to travel (at times) a couple of kilometres until you return to the same point. There is signage at crossings, but it is not systematic nor exhaustive. The concept of the park itself is amazing. The enclosures for the animals are large or very large, sometimes with more than one point of observation. It is ideal to make them encourage them are in an environment most suited as possible. This involves repeatedly, that when you go to see a lion or Tiger, it can be found somewhere in the distance not very visible, or simply pulled without doing anything. This may disappoint a little, but it must understand that it has to be so. If what we want is to see an animal to 2 meters and up is going back and forth and making goodies for us, then would surely go to a circus. The Reptile House can be visited at any time as an enclosure (interesting not to be missed since the collection of snakes is very full) beware leave things too late for from 18 h 00 or 18 h 30 there are some things that are no longer available (e.g ropeway)

To get is well signposted from the motorway exit. It is recommended to buy tickets on the Internet and go to first hour when the Park opens for not having to queue and to see everything with more tranquility. At the entrance you are given a map of the grounds and information activities. There is a show of sea lions and birds of prey several times a day that are highly recommended. Especially the birds of prey is more spectacular because you get to keep them flying just above your head. The tour of the grounds is fundamentally drive. Everything is well paved and mostly with a track by sense. As you're seeing animals, stop the car, do photos etc. you can get them to having really close. It is also recommended to take the cable car early to avoid the queues. It's worth much. The views are stunning and unique. Occurs throughout the full travel by cable car in less than an hour. Throughout the park there are areas of restoration but also is a good choice, bring the food and eat in some of its beautiful places. We arrived early and we just visit him only an hour before closing so you should seize the time for of all time.
