  • Without a doubt, this area of Spain, one of Europe's largest beech forests is a paradise for all lovers of nature and outdoor sports. The entire area is very well maintained and signposted and can hiking, mountain BIKING, running, fishing or enjoy a good day in the company of family and/or amig@s. For those who we like photography, autumn is the ideal time to visit it, since you can see total fullness all the colours that characterize this season of the year. With respect to the environment, has surprised me their State of conservation, the total absence of trash and the way in which people have been integrated in such an environment. Without a doubt, says a lot of people in Navarre. Looking to your visit, some things must be taken into account, the jungle has 2 main entrances, in the South Ochagavía and Orbaitzeta in the North. Autumn is a time of much activity, so it is advisable to book well in advance, to avoid surprises. If you're adventurer, camper or you simply want to feel in harmony with the environment, a good option is to stay at campsites available, whose facilities are very good. In our case we were 3 days during the weekend of November and it gave us time to make quite a few trails, despite walking very slowly due to my passion for photography. Obviously, it is a place from which one never tires for its great beauty. You have in mind that the parking access to the trails they are payment (€5, € 2 If you are staying in certain hotels in the area) and with capacity for 100-150 vehicles, so it should be up early to avoid having to leave the car at the edge of the road 1-2 km from the parking. In the case of the trails that surround the dam of Irabia, should take into account that these car parks are smaller, so are filled before. Although information is available in all car parks, it is advisable to prepare the visit in advance, to avoid crowds of people and/or loss of time. The gastronomic offer of the area is varied and of great quality, but it gave us the feeling that it was not very wide. The area has other great attractions, their villages, their birds, the Roncal Valley or its gastronomic products, such as cheese, etc.

  • I would just recommend not to visit this area during the weekend of November and not eat at the restaurant of the facilities. Impassable, a chaos of parking and organization of the cars. It should not leave there access vehicles private so dates and organize trips in buses from most nearby towns as done elsewhere with much affluence. A disappointment for that reason.

  • Eye! If you make the route from ochagavía, they charge you 5 euros by leaving your car in a parking lot in the open air. The passage is lovely, but does not seem right that you charge for leaving the car in the field and tell you that if you want to make use of its facilities, it has to pay it. The next thing will be that you charge for drinking water from a source...
