By back of the monastery of Santa Clara met few years ago the remains of what used to be the minor Alcazar in Murcia, remains that have been put up for his visit and interpretation together with other Muslim found in other parts of the city. The visit to the Museum is free and includes two zones. On the one hand the same remaining Alcazar arches decorated with the original colors, as well as the water channels that watered courtyards and swimming pools in its interior. In that same space vessels of ceramic and glass, are objects of everyday life, coins, tombstones and prayers record in stone. This first part is tremendous, not leaving many traces of Muslim domination stage historical and monumental value. Through panels and informative videos explains the evolution and the reason why the estban remains hidden. In another proper exhibition area are in urns Crystal figures and paintings of the monastery, only religious-themed and have little value to the greatness of what must have been the fortress, which is not completely studied by having the monastery on the same. It is a very interesting visit taking into account the importance of the Kingdom of Murcia during half the little visible age which is in the history of the city compared with after more renowned as Córdoba or Sevilla cities.

A beautiful interior, unknown even to the own Murcia. There are workshops and guided visits. The staff is very friendly and competent. The only downside is that the entrance door, with appearance of gate closing, can give the impression that is closed and not invited to enter. Surely more than one has gone long.

It is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. It is located in the paseo de Alfonso X and a convent of the sisters Poor Clares. It has a swimming pool, wonderful and well preserved, there are also some remains of the King Wolf, whose castle is located in Monteagudo and also recommended to visit. But this requires transport

  • My favorite place to bring visitors to Murcia. A very small museum but in a stunning setting along one side of the convent gardens. There is a free guide (in Spanish) if you arrange beforehand, or just show up during opening hours and wander at will (free entry, Spanish-only info boards). The ground floor displays the archaeological remains of the caliph's palace, and the pairing of this on one side and the convent pool and gardens on the other is delightful. Upstairs are artifacts from the convent's history, including a small chapel with a dragon-painted ceiling. A must-see spot in Murcia!

  • It may be that as the night of the museums had agglomeration, that Yes, well controlled by staff. Very nice exterior. Inside the beautiful construction also; exposures: normal downstairs and the upstairs being at night I was creepy.

  • The Museum and gardens are beautiful! Worth seeing if you're visiting Murcia. The Arab remains are also very nice and there is the possibility of entering with guide. Recommended 100% as it also is located in the heart of the city.
