  • Beautiful and collected Baroque church with numerous works of Salzillo father and son and other great artists

  • The Iglesia San Miguel as seen today is not the first church on the site. A former Church, documented 1272, was demolished in 1625 due to its poor state, and work to build a new church was begun soon after. But in October 1651 the river Segura went over its banks, inundating large parts of Murcia and caused massive destruction to buildings and cost the lives of humans and animals. The new church building was nearing its end, but was completely destroyed. In 1691 came we started again, and the current San Miguel was built and completed in 1712. In 1864 it was wrong with the water again. Due to urgent water from the nearby channel "Acequia Mayor Aljufía", which was used for irrigation, the church tower collapsed. The chancel and cross-ship also got major damage. The repair after the destruction was completed in 1879. San Miguel is in pure Baroque style, shaped like a Latin cross with the dome above the choir and side chapels in the main ship which are connected with each other with a narrow time. The gorgeous, Golden altars are characterized by the works of, among others, Jacinto Perales and Francisco Salzillo.
