  • Monteagudo Castle (photo 2008), stands on the top of the homonymous rocks near the village of Monteagudo, located 5 km from Murcia and at 10 kilometres — from Orihuela. Name of the Castle has Latin roots and means "Sharp mountain". The first written mention of the Castle are found in 1078city. According to Arab sources, modern look castle became the 12th century during the reign of Ibn Mardanisha, nicknamed King of the Wolf. Then he ruled almost the whole eastern part of Al-Andalus. The fortress served as a strategic mission, because it is situated on a steep mountain slope. It became a solid defensive Murcia Emirs. In 1165 King Wolf suffered a serious defeat in the confrontation with the al'mohadami, crossed the Strait and was forced to leave the Castle. After the Reconquista, the Castle came under the control of the Spanish King. Murcia Office of Castilla gave the fortress status of border between Castile and Aragonom bastion. That was until 1492г., once merged kingdoms. Today Montegaudo is one of the historical monuments of Murcia. Here are conducted restoration work and archaeological excavations. Among the findings of archaeologists-URNs of the period of the bronze age, as well as fragments of Iberian and Roman ceramics. On the cliff top is sculpture representing Christ-a monument of devotion of the sacred heart of Jesus Christ, its height is 14 meters. There everything is closed, but it stops anyone Paladin. We got to the head of Christ, inside the spiral staircase.

  • I went a few days ago to the Christ and am sorry see their plight of abandonment. He is not accessible. I think that if you invested a little in maintenance it would be a good tourist attraction for the region.

  • Castillo_de_Monteagudo這地方可以鳥瞰整個Murcia,雖然附近沒什麼可以逛的地方,這也是在Murcia其中一個景點,可以來看看,但公車時間要抓好,不然久久一班車
  • It could be a fantastic place and spectacular, the penalty is that the important archaeological rest of origin Arabic and later are not in good condition. Neither the State of access roads is suitable.

  • Interesting walk through the site's history. The statue and the mountain lit up in the evenings.

  • I've been here a couple of times but I've never managed to go inside, I don't know if that's possible. He is accessed by a path without much indication and unpaved, it is best to ask residents to arrive. It impresses the size of the figure of Christ on what was once a fortress where he lived Alfonso X El Sabio
