Los Cahorros, Monachil

(4.7/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Hike over wooden bridges, across narrow cliffs, around caves and waterfalls, and to lush views at Los Cahorros. Start by crossing over three hanging bridges, with a huge waterfall beneath you. To cross one gorge, you'll need to balance on a narrow cliff edge next to the whitewater, and in some places you'll use metal rings in the cliff as handholds where the cliff hangs over the water. Once you’ve crossed the gorge, you can take a break at a picnic area to eat and enjoy the sights. The rest of the hike takes you along fields of cherries, olives, oranges, and grapes. There are restaurants near the beginning and end of the hike. Bring plenty of water and comfortable shoes. Parts of this hike may be too challenging for small children. A visit to Los Cahorros represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Sierra Nevada National Park family vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • Very good trip to do with the family. The only thing missing is some signs to identify the way. You never know where you are going or how long it is going to take you. It is all an adventure!  more »
  • We took the 183 bus all the way to the end of the route ticket was less than £2- it comes every hour and took 30-45 mins. From there you walk to Los cahorros- highly recommend active wear and runners....  more »
  • A place full of nature, where to enjoy the views, cut, suspension bridges, water... all silence (that Yes, you should go early or during the week.) On Sunday, is a chaos and enjoy little) I've gone twice, this weekend I was. and although the place is lovely, I have to go back in the summer to enjoy of more greenery and put your feet in the water. By the way, people could be cleaner and not littering or papers everywhere, (take it in the backpack) is a pity that they damaged the nature with both slip. Then we complain that they put us the natural places of payment... I have personally visited routes in the North of Spain, and I have never seen paper or tissues used in soil. By nature, let's take what little we have.

  • Nice routes and amazing scenery.
  • beauty.
  • Their way, water from the melting was sculpting with capricious forms the limestone walls of the Canyon of Los Cahorros, which is perched on a beautiful forest of almecinos. It's a beautiful hiking route of low mountain located on the edge of the Sierra Nevada.
