Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet), Miravet

Standing imposingly on a rocky hill 100 m (330 ft) above the river below, Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet) provides one of the finest remaining examples of medieval military architecture in Spain. Admire the castle’s parapets and massive walls, originally constructed by Spain’s Muslim rulers during the ninth century, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The castle today bears Romanesque modifications added after its European conquest in 1153. Explore the fortress’ labyrinth of rooms, 15 of which surround its inner courtyard, including a granary, church, and stable. Guided tours of the castle grounds are available, and free parking is on offer at the base of the hill. The road up to the entrance is very steep, and therefore it is recommended that those with mobility issues use motorized transportation to reach the top. • From magnificent views of the Ebro. Historical place, example of Templar Castle and that despite the past vicissitudes, including Civil War endures with dignity. Available in several languages triptych helps in the visit.

  • It is a very nice place, with a castle of 1100 located 100 metres above a hill, for defense. It is an example of Templar military culture, pride for the Catalans. And the old town with its history, this very renovated, maintaining the charm of the tradition. Very nice place to live the history and enjoy the scenery provided by the Ebro, partially surrounding the Hill of Miravet.

  • While we never leave sitting on the ground. That's one of the weekends, prokatyvajas on district stumbled upon this wonderful Castle. It is located on the hill near the homonymous village. The State is quite decent. On razmetaem certainly not the biggest, but what wonderful views from its walls! Climb to the top on a very narrow spiral staircase! Entrance fee, but worth a penny

  • Very pretty templars castle, you should take the guided tour. Also the views are spectacular and the village itself very quaint and lovely.
  • An amazing place to visit. A little exposed so if its dark, or overcast be sure to take a coat. But if you love history you'll love this place!
  • Interesting templar castle. Good views over the Ebre and in remarkable condition since it was a battleground in the Spanish Civil War. Drive up or down could be interesting if someone is coming the other way!
