Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet), Miravet
(4.3/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Standing imposingly on a rocky hill 100 m (330 ft) above the river below, Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet) provides one of the finest remaining examples of medieval military architecture in Spain. Admire the castle’s parapets and massive walls, originally constructed by Spain’s Muslim rulers during the ninth century, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The castle today bears Romanesque modifications added after its European conquest in 1153. Explore the fortress’ labyrinth of rooms, 15 of which surround its inner courtyard, including a granary, church, and stable. Guided tours of the castle grounds are available, and free parking is on offer at the base of the hill. The road up to the entrance is very steep, and therefore it is recommended that those with mobility issues use motorized transportation to reach the top. Arrange to visit Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet) and other attractions in Miravet using our Miravet family vacation planner.

  • Beautiful castle nice with a very nice view from up here on the Ebro river and its environs but narrow stairs to climb to the highest point of the Castle

  • It’s impossible to miss the striking Castle of Miravet overlooking the River Ebro in Tarragona, Catalonia. Picture speaks it all!
  • For history lovers and enthusiasts of the Templars is undoubtedly a must-see. The village has much charm by steep mountain streets and its excellent views of the river. I recommend parking in the village and enjoy up to the castle through the streets, they are 10-12 mins. Buy the guided entry because you will enjoy a lot more. We pay about €11 pax. Not expect to see rooms or furniture... This castle aufrio several wars and the confiscation of Mendiazabal. Sports dresses go up to the terrace.

  • An amazing place to visit. A little exposed so if its dark, or overcast be sure to take a coat. But if you love history you'll love this place!
  • Interesting templar castle. Good views over the Ebre and in remarkable condition since it was a battleground in the Spanish Civil War. Drive up or down could be interesting if someone is coming the other way!
  • Lovely drive and scenic spot. Had done a lot of castles over our 1,100 Spanish road trip and found this had best information and one of the nicest outlooks.
  • Amazing castle with amazing views. There was a lack of guidance tho.
  • Fun place to visit. Take one of the local guides they are worth the money.
