Beautiful you will not see anywhere a crypt full of skulls black and white, and the Chapel to say got me the creeps, is precious. I will continue going back whenever you come to Malaga

We have been to enough churches & Cathedrals to be a little jaded. However this took our breath away. The main cathedral is not the reason to visit. It is the crypt & the tower to heaven that you want...  more »

In every European country can you do have a beautiful faith home visits. Yet a visit to this worthwhile. The outside is not very particular, the inside is all the more beautiful. The portion behind the altar, to visits from the side of the Basilica, is beautiful. This part is only to visit with a tour guide. Short (20 min) spontaneous tour of an enthusiastic guide. Full of passion is told about the history and symbolism in the graftombre (hell) and the higher Dome (the sky). Gorgeous, breathtakingly beautiful! A very detailed artwork, probably designed by a Dutchman or a Fleming. One of the beautiful cultural places in Malaga. To explore the dome is a gift of at least 2 euros. We were in the (freely accessible) Basilica approached by the Guide, but the entrance of the tomb and dome is elsewhere on the outside.

  • I visited this place after seeing it on Atlas Obscura. This place is apparently not well known but it is worth the visit. The church itself is good but do not miss the crypt and heavenly tower. The guided tour is very cheap (optional 2 euro donation).
  • This place adds a whole new meaning to the word amazing, it is baroque grandure at it bizarre best. From the skeletal crypt to the heavenly tower, it is full of beautifully illustrated sculpture. This is a hidden gem that is unmissable for a a baroque lover. The guided tour was delivered with proud and informative passion. The 10 minute walk from the centre is well worth it, only open 10-13pm
  • It is not a church, it is a "Real Sanctuary Parish and Basilica of Santa Maria de la Victoria". Place with great history and is also the great unknown jewel Malaga. Few people know that it houses one of the most horrific Crypts of the world and also the dressing room (say the experts in art and history) more impressive and beautiful there. But people never imagine such wonders inside because leave themselves carried away by the austere external appearance. Never judge a place by its outward appearance and in this case with more reason. Visits to the crypt and the dressing room be available Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00. It is great visit to Malaga together with the Cathedral and the great Arab fortress.

  • Beautiful temple whose origins extend to worship the Virgen de la Victoria in the 15th century, although the present building dates from the 17TH. It is attached to the convent of the order minimum. Pope Benedicto XVI (2007) was who granted the title of minor Basilica to the Real Santuario de la Victoria.

Where to stay in Malaga

For a chance to experience the heart of the city center, you will want to stay in the area surrounding Calle Larios and Alameda Principal. This constitutes the commercial shopping district of the city and is a convenient walk to the city's main attractions and beaches. Another option is the historical city center, where an array of lively tapas bars and shops intermix with the dramatic Gothic architecture. For a true beach vacation, choose to stay in one of the hotels lining the city beach where you can soak up views of the beautiful Costa Dorada away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
