Admire the grandiosity of Madrid’s Royal Palace from Plaza de Oriente. The plaza consists of three gardens, beautifully landscaped with dozens of plant varieties and lined with limestone statues of the 20 Gothic kings of the early Christian kingdom. Wander through the Baroque-inspired central gardens to see the monument of King Philip IV. Stop at one of the many garden cafes to sit and have coffee while enjoying the impressive backdrop of the palace and gardens. • Stroll through the gardens of the Plaza de Oriente, stand in the middle of the square and enjoy the view from the Theatre Royal and the Royal Palace, is simply the feel that you can breathe everything that happened in the last three centuries of history. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful place, iconic location (many king/queen/Franco's discourses were given from the Palacio Real balcony facing this place) and possibly the best child playground in Madrid. Can be muddy when it rains though.
  • Small but beautiful plaza with trees, statues, fountains and street performers. Definitely worth a look.
  • Good hangout place. Near the center. In the night people came out there for hangout. Many bars with good vine are around this area.
  • Impressive area in central Madrid. Great place to relax and see the views.
  • Nice spot on a hot summers day, but unfortunately the staff were at best inattentive and at worst, rude
