  • Small square framed by such buildings as the Chamber of Deputies and The Westin Palace hotel. In its Center, a statue of Miguel de Cervantes, in 1835, and little else. The truth is that it's not me very nice, since it is always full of heavily armed policemen. It is not the most recommended site for a relaxed stroll.

  • This square is just somewhere to walk through really with quite modern buildings around you. We did not notice the clock mentioned in a previous review.  more »
  • Recently I had the opportunity of visit the Congress of them members, the camera low of them cuts General, that together with the Senate, represent to the people Spanish, in who resides the sovereignty national, of it emanate them powers of the State. The Parliament is housed in the Palace of the courts, in the Plaza de las Cortes, whose main entrance is in the Carrera de San Jerónimo. It is a building of the 19th century, neo-classical style, designed by the architect Narciso Pascual y Colomer. Our visit begins entering through the door, esquina calle Zorrilla y Carrera de San Jerónimo, after passing the relevant controls, visit different rooms where the parliamentary groups meet and held sessions in the Commission and Sub-Commission, as for example, the Hall of columns, Ernest Young Hall, Cánovas room and Sagasta room. Also us indicate where are the offices of the members and the area of Government, that consists of 3 offices and a room of meetings. Continue the visit, noting the magnificent collection of paintings that have the Congress of Deputies. We went to the building nobler Congress through an outdoor patio, since Congress consists of 5 buildings. Already in the noble building, we went through the gallery in the order of the day, which calls for parliamentary activities are available and for the area, called M30. Access to the area of the desks, places of meeting and of work and that are 4. Highlights the desk clock, which gets its name from the clock that presides over it, which is of great value. This astronomical clock, marks the local hours of 20 cities in the world. The desktop of the Constitution, is named, to contain in an urn, a copy of the Spanish Constitution of 1978. Other desks is the desktop of press conferences and reading of press. Arrived to the Salon of conferences, known as the salon of them steps lost, that is the salon more important of the building, since here is held them acts institutional and is spectacular in its decoration. Its vault represents various allegories such as the law, justice, wealth,... and stands out in its Center a table of noble wood and mother of Pearl. Through this room access to inside the main lobby, which is an elliptical room, and is presided over by Queen Isabel II. The room is decorated with portraits of prominent politicians of the 19th and 20th centuries (Cánovas, Sagasta, Pi y Margall,...). If access from the outside by the door main, the door of the Lions, it first that us found is the lobby main. This door is opened on very rare occasions. The Lions Gate, as its name indicates, is chaired by 2 bronze lions, cast in the Maestranza de Sevilla, and designed by Ponciano Ponzano. Another highlight of the Congress, is the reading room of the library, in my opinion, the most beautiful rooms. It has an important value for its holdings on the political history of Spain. Finally, the session Hall, the Chamber, where the Congress plenary sessions and sessions held joint of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, as the solemn session of opening of each legislature. He chairs the Hall of sessions the Chair and table, then there is the Gallery of speakers, and the banks stands the blue color of the Government, and Garnet from the rest of the members, who are 350. The Parliament is decorated with lamps and clocks of the time, that work all. It is Europe's oldest Parliament. Before we leave, we can have a snack in the restoration area. Recommend completely this visit, because in addition to to exchange any opinion with them members that you find in the visit, can see the work that day to day performed and that affects of a way fundamental in the society civil, since is a work not visible, it most of them times, because what see with more frequency publicly are them sessions plenary. And we must not forget that politics is public affairs and their representatives are due to citizens.

  • It is a big parking with a tour that allows you to circulate through the squares in order in case of high occupancy (instead of having to be on the lookout). However the price is high and we must pay it even for washing the vehicle.

  • Great for the location and size of the squares... but quite expensive... something normal in the Centre...

  • Well located. The squares are more or less wide. The prices are expensive, as in almost all parking in Madrid.
