  • Really not attractive any in particular, will be found because came from the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor, really not the location to visit, all that remains between the Cathedral and the Plaza Mayor.

  • This small square has wonderful architecture. It is very old and it is much different from other squares in Madrid. This is very quiet plaza where you can enjoy good coffee and recharge your energy.  more »

  • You suddenly discover this very peaceful space while going down the main street . A rich mix of stone and brick on some of its facades. Just beautiful!
  • Cute little place. There is no bench at all so you can't sit and relax here. Worth just a quick stop to take a picture a continue walking...
  • A beautiful little square that is very picturesque. The architecture is nice as is the little garden. It is also much quieter than the more well known squares making it a nice stop on your travels.
  • Great place to soak up Spain and Madrid's history. This plaza used to be home to the cities wealthiest families.
  • Nice small plaza, where the old city hall resided at.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
