Parroquia De Nuestra Señora Del Carmen Y San Luis, Madrid

(4.3/5 based on 30+ reviews on the web)
Just minutes away from Puerta del Sol, the 17th-century Parroquia De Nuestra Señora Del Carmen Y San Luis is the only surviving part of the Carmelite convent that once stood here. The building in the center of Madrid combines architectural simplicity with extravagant Baroque frescoes, statues, and ornaments. While the exterior is quite unassuming, on the inside you can admire the works of some of Spain's most celebrated Baroque painters, such as Juan Sanchez Barba and Antonio de Pereda. • The Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and San Luis Obispo is an architectural marvel of Baroque art. Both the exterior and the interior are very interesting. Highlights inside, wrought iron balconies and boxes. Also, a sculpture of Christ lying.

  • Located in the calle del Carmen, a few metres from the Puerta del Sol. It is austere, spacious, single-nave, built in the 17TH century. This church housed a rich artistic heritage that has been decimated with the passage of time; However, still retains some notable works, such as the magnificent Christ lying, work of Juan Sánchez Barba. The Church open for visiting every day of the week, the entrance is free.

  • The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen stands in the heart of the historical centre of Madrid, between the Puerta del Sol and the Gran via. In the countless wonderful churches in the city centre, this not particularly stands out. For is considered, it is but quite attractive and very worth seeing. We have looked to us like a Word and then continued.

  • Beautiful old style church with amazing paintings and awe inspiring statues!
  • One of the traditional churches of Madrid, the rites and celebrations very outdated and traditionalist both by age and manner of preaching of priests, and by the age of the audience that attends masses. Candles that can be put to the Virgen del Carmen, make sure the interior is blackened and looking more aging.

  • The Church of Carmen is a place in Madrid. It is small but cozy. It is all that remains of the Carmelite convent. Account with an image of the Virgen del Carmen, is home of a brotherhood so during Holy week you can visit the steps (Andalusian style). The interior is Baroque

  • This is another of the Madrid baroque churches that seem to not enforce anything on the outside and have its substance when you come inside. It is headquarters of a brotherhood so during Holy week you can visit the steps (Andalusian style). The interior is Baroque and good, but it is needed, at a minimum, of a coat of paint.
